Me on one of my anxiety-beating activities using nature and walking as a tool in my recovery - 2017

ABOUT ME

LISA @SIMPLY_ANXIOUS

I was locked in a fierce battle with anxiety for a staggering two decades. The ups and downs, the relentless search for answers, and the quest for support made it even more of a rollercoaster ride that left me, more often than not, feeling alone, scared and utterly exhausted.

But during that tumultuous journey, something remarkable happened. I discovered a profound sense of purpose—a mission to simplify and centralise the things that led me out of the anxiety's grip and onto a full recovery. And thus, Simply Anxious was born.

I wanted to create a space for others where the weight of anxiety was lifted, where confusion and isolation give way to clarity and connection, a space where you don't have to scroll endlessly through endless websites, drowning in a sea of medical jargon and horror stories that only deepen the fear. That's the vision behind Simply Anxious, and I invite you to be a part of it.

My heart and soul are poured into this platform, offering you a sanctuary of factual information, lived experiences, and positive recommendations. I'm not a medical professional, but I bring you the wisdom gained from my own arduous journey of recovery.

Together, let's navigate the labyrinth of anxiety and find a new path of healing, self-empowerment, and self-discovery. I aim to inspire and uplift you through Simply Anxious, providing the tools and insights to reclaim your life from disordered anxiety.

Please enjoy this space. Embrace the possibility of finding relief by changing your relationship with anxiety and cultivating a calmer mind.

With love and unwavering support,

A QUEEN’S HONOUR

HR QUEEN ELIZABETH NEW YEAR HONOURS 2015
A POSITIVE CAN COME FROM A NEGATIVE
In the shadows of anxiety, I lived for years, concealing it like some forbidden secret. But amidst yet another setback, I made a powerful decision—to transform this anxiety-riddled existence into something meaningful. I resolved to raise awareness, to shatter the stifling stigma, and ignite compassion, understanding, and support for all those silently suffering.

In 2013, I took my first steps towards change. I lent my voice to a national TV campaign orchestrated by the incredible 'Time to Change' charity. It was both terrifying and exhilarating to share my story and witness the magic behind the scenes of television adverts. Opening up about my anxiety struggles set me free, and it showed the world that this affliction knows no boundaries—it touches lives from every corner of society. You can catch a glimpse of that journey in one of the videos HERE.

But it wasn't just the lack of accessible information and facts about anxiety that fueled my fire. It was the burning desire to declare to the world that there are countless individuals like me, leading seemingly normal lives while silently grappling with inner turmoil. It was time to break the silence, to dismantle the misconceptions, and to prove that anxiety is undeniably real, transcending societal divisions.

My purpose became crystal clear—I yearned to make a difference in the lives of those who shared my struggle. The desperation to shield others from the feelings of brokenness, isolation, and fear became my driving force. I embarked on a journey across the United Kingdom, joined by a passionate colleague, where we fearlessly divulged our own battles with anxiety. Little did we know that this act of vulnerability would blossom into something far greater than we could have ever imagined.

We established a support network within UK Government Departments, weaving together a tapestry of connection and understanding. Together, we helped countless individuals feel less alone, less scared, and less burdened by the weight of anxiety. The impact was profound, resonating in the lives we touched.

In 2016, a moment of sheer astonishment and pride embraced me. I was honoured with a Queen's Honour for my contributions to mental health awareness. Can you believe it? It still sends chills down my spine. I never embarked on this journey with a reward in mind. My sole purpose was to spark change, alter opinions, and dismantle the walls of stigma that held us captive.

So here I stand, humbled and inspired, sharing my story with you. It is my hope that by sharing my journey, I ignite a spark within you—a spark that compels you to challenge misconceptions, embrace compassion, and become an advocate for change. Together, let's amplify the voices of those battling anxiety, let's break down barriers, and let's create a world where empathy reigns supreme.

With unwavering determination,

Lisa x
